TARI employs a multidisciplinary team of experts, including:
- Agricultural researchers and scientists specializing in crop improvement, soil science, plant protection, biotechnology, and climate-smart agriculture
- Extension specialists and technology transfer officers who bridge the gap between research and farmers
- Engineers and technicians supporting agricultural mechanization and infrastructure
- Administrative and support staff ensuring smooth operations across all centres
- Finance, procurement, ICT, legal, and planning professionals who provide essential institutional services

With staff stationed at 9 main research centres and 8 sub-centres across Tanzania, TARI maintains a strong presence in all major agro-ecological zones. This decentralized staffing model allows for:
